Parsons Green Terrorist Incident Update – 15.09.17 1200hrs

  • Emergency services including police, fire and ambulance were called at about 08:20 BST after reports of an explosion on a London-bound District Line train at Parsons Green – Met Police
  • Witnesses described seeing a white “builder’s bucket” in a supermarket bag which was on fire and a “wall of flame” in the train carriage – BBC
  • Some people who were in the station said they saw “panicked scenes” with people being crushed by others as they tried to escape – BBC
  • St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington has declared a major incident – Met Police
  • 18 patients have been taken to a number of London hospitals. None are thought to be in a serious or life-threatening condition – LAS
  • The Met Police have confirmed they are treating this as a terrorist incident
  • Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley states the Parsons Green explosion was caused by the detonation of an improvised explosive device
  • Downing Street said Theresa May would be chairing a meeting of the government’s Cobra emergencies committee on Friday morning
  • London Underground services are suspended between Earl’s Court and Wimbledon and Parsons Green station is closed as a result of this morning’s incident. TFL will accept tickets on buses, South Western Trains and Overground – TFL
  • Fulham Road is closed between Munster Road and North End Road. Parsons Green Lane is closed north bound at New Kings Road – TFL
  • New Kings Rd closed between Putney Bridge & Wandsworth Bridge. Fulham Rd remains closed – TFL
  • Customers travelling between Wimbledon and Earls Court can re-plan their journeys via http://ly/1NTJmr8 -TFL
