Ensuring that Hammersmith is a cleaner, greener place to work, live and visit is of the upmost importance to the BID. We believe that an increased focus on the sustainability of the town centre will boost its impact on the perception of the area.

Businesses have told us that they wish to be further informed about local developments, waste reduction, air quality initiatives, smarter travel and greening projects. We are committed to:

  • Providing and develop the BID’s free recycling scheme
  • Driving forward the Hammersmith Flyunder initiative
  • Representing business views on area developments at the Transport Forum

Your business can save money by reducing, reusing and recycling its waste with the BID.

All Levy-Payers are eligible to join HammersmithLondon’s recycling service, run in conjunction with First Mile. Sign up and we will distribute plastic sacks to your office which you can pop all your recycling waste into.

Businesses must have some sort of recycling agreement in place, prompting them to ensure that they do recycle material from their business premises.

It is no longer enough to just have a waste transfer note showing the suitable collection and disposal of your business waste. Working with the BID and First Mile can easily solve this issue as we offer free recycling to BID levy payers that will be more than enough to successfully adhere to the legislation.

First Mile also offer free stationary collections, toner collections, fluorescent tubes and light bulbs and will soon offer textile and fabric recycling.

Well, just about everything:

• Copier paper - white or coloured • Card - white or coloured • Leaflets • Brochures, magazines, newspapers • Junk mail • Business directories, including yellow Pages • Envelopes, including ‘window’ envelopes • Drinks cans and food tins • Glass bottles & jars ( no more than 10% per sack ) • tetrapak • Cardboard ( for large boxes please flat pack and attach a HammersmithLondon sack ) • Plastic bottles, films & carrier bags

Each year Hammersmith comes alive with festive cheer thanks to the Christmas lights that line the streets around the town centre.

For the past 10 years, the festive lighting in Hammersmith has been funded for by the BID and is an integral part of the Christmas campaign to bring people into the area.

As part of HammersmithLondon’s offer we also supply the 25ft high tree in Lyric Square.

The BID is fully committed to providing local employees with all the latest information about travel, new infrastructure projects & transport issues affecting the area.

Hammersmith is set to transform over the next few years as bold new developments are built and the transport infrastructure dramatically improved.

Held once a quarter, the Transport Forum is open to all levy-payers and provides a platform for the BID, Hammersmith and Fulham Council and Transport for London to update Hammersmith businesses on the latest transport news. If you would like to attend the next forum, email
