HammersmithLondon Summer Festival returns!

The summer is finally here, and the HammersmithLondon Free Summer Festival promises to bring priceless new experiences to everyone throughout June and July.

Organised by HammersmithLondon Business Improvement District (BID), the award-winning festival celebrates its 10th year with a packed programme of live theatrical performances, sport and opera on the Big Screen, outdoor fitness classes and events promoting culture, safety and security and encouraging sustainable living.

Indulge in the Arts

HammersmithLondon and Lyric Hammersmith join forces once again to host Lyric Fest a new 3-day event taking place during 29 June -1 July.  The event promises to deliver an extraordinary line up of talent to Hammersmith, showcasing a range of thrilling art forms including music, theatre, dance, poetry and more.

HammersmithLondon is also proud to sponsor HF ArtsFest, an inclusive open arts festival taking place across Hammersmith & Fulham.  As part of ArtsFest, Tales of Joy, a new piece of live theatre will premiere in Lyric Square on Saturday 9 July.

Take a walk to Hammersmith Town Hall where public art installation Beacon is on display in the glass-enclosed atrium of the Town Hall extension.  Sponsored by HammersmithLondon and LBHF, the installation by Swiss artist Nicolas K Feldmeyer features a lit-up pyramid of hundreds of strings and symbolises a sense of a signal providing light into the night.

Big Screen Action

This summer, movie lovers are invited to enjoy a special outdoor screening of the hit musical The Greatest Showman – Sing Along!  Abandon the usual cinema etiquette and sing your heart out to the infectious show-stopping tunes as the lyrics appear on the screen.

On the Big Screen, sports fans can watch live action and highlights from Wimbledon and the Tour de France.   This year sees the launch of Hammersmith TV with features on Hammersmith life and interviews with the people that make up the diverse culture and personality of the town.

The popular opera nights return with live opera beamed directly from the Royal Opera House.  On Tuesday 26 June, watch Puccini’s passionate opera La Bohème and on Thursday 12 July, immerse yourself in the spectacular Don Giovanni, Mozart’s dazzling opera of seduction and dangerous liaisons.

Picnic and ping-pong al fresco

Picnic in the Square returns, Monday to Wednesdays between 18-27 June, inviting the public to unwind during their lunch breaks and enjoy dining on giant picnic tables and deckchairs.  Throughout the summer, the square will host free ping pong tables for people to pick up a paddle and join in with some friendly competitive fun.

Free outdoor fitness classes

There’s no excuse to not get fit this summer as HammersmithLondon encourage you to stretch, shake and skip through your lunch break with free fitness classes in partnership with DW Fitness First and Lumi Power Yoga.  The classes include yoga and are for all levels of fitness with no booking necessary. Just turn up to Lyric Square and take part in these enjoyable classes run by health and fitness professionals.

Get your bike road ready at Dr Bike Sessions on 11 June and 16 July, take part in Clean Air Day on 21 June and enjoy free guided walks on the first Saturday of each month.
